Clever Halloween Costumes to Make With Your Elderly Parent

Temple, TX, caregivers know better than anyone that adults enjoy Halloween as much as kids do. If you don’t want your loved one to spend too much money on store-bought costumes this year, here are some fun and easy DIY costumes the two of you can create together.

Jellyfish

Take a clear umbrella and embellish it with colorful long streamers around the edge. Tape will work best for this. Use crepe paper to cover the tape along the outer rim of the umbrella. Finally, add eyes to the open umbrella. Now you have a costume party jellyfish that will look adorable on your loved one.

Identity Thief

Your senior loved one can pose as an identity thief this year. Fill out about twenty “my-name-is” tags with different names. Stick the tags all over a light-colored t-shirt and voila. Your loved one is a cleverly created identity thief.

Emoji

Emoji’s are a popular way for people to express themselves. Simply use a round cake board and a wooden paint stirring stick to create a fan. You can tape or glue the stick to the backside of the cake board. Paint the face yellow and draw, stencil or paint your loved one’s favorite emoji. Smiley faces, laughing faces and heart-eyes are very popular. This is also a comfortable costume for seniors to wear.

Bubble Bath

A shower cap, white clothing, white balloons, a small rubber ducky and a back scrub brush is all your loved one needs to be a bubble bath. Have him or her put on white clothing, blow up the balloons in different sizes and use safety pins to stick them all over your loved one’s shirt. Pin the rubber ducky on his or her shoulder and add the shower cap and brush for a cute costume.

Price Is Right Contestant

Your loved one can also be a contestant on The Price Is Right. Start by making a showcase price board. Use silver duct tape around the edges of a rectangular cardboard. Paint the inner portion green or red. Use yellow tape to create block numbers for your loved one’s bid. Finally, tape a nametag onto your loved one.
